M\E\ Charles A. O’Wril, Jr., Grand High Priest Date: January 2004
Dear Companions:
I thank all the Companions of our Jurisdiction for the confidence, and honor they have given me to be elected for a second term as Grand High Priest. After reflection on last year I have noted several areas where I would like to see improvements. Now that I have the assistance of our Queen, our Jurisdiction’s future seems very bright indeed!
My theme last year was communication, and since no organization can survive without communication, it will be also my theme for this year. I wish however to expand communication to the Community. We have to become known as Masons active in their communities. York Rite has so much to offer to men that it would be a tragedy to not inform non members of our existence! I will meet with our Masonic Awareness Committee in the near future to lay out plans for future endeavors.
Your Grand High Priest has just returned from the Installation of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts and the Feast of St John’s. I renew my support for all the Grand Lodge officers for the ensuing Year, but particularly to Most Worshipful Donald Gardner Hicks, Jr., The Grand Master. The Grand Master has worked with all Brethren, and with all affiliated bodies including The York Rite and Scottish Rite.
I congratulate R. W. Roy J. Leone who was installed as Deputy Grand Master. He also is a personal friend and a member of my own Mt. Horeb Royal Arch Chapter. He is a man that grows on you. He is intelligent, personable and a gentleman.
I congratulate R. W. David R. Price, Sr., for being elected to Sr. Grand Warden. He has toiled in the vineyards for many years. In those years he has worn many hats, and always performed his duties with the highest of excellence. I have known him for many years, and respect him highly! He also is a very active York Rite Mason being a former Grand Lecturer for many years and a former member of our Grand Chapter Degree Team, and a permanent member of our Grand Chapter. The Grand Lodge could not have elected a finer man.
I also congratulate R. W. Thomas E Pulkinen for being elected to Jr. Grand Warden. He is another man I have known for a few years in all phases of Masonry. He has always performed above expectations, and I know he will be a positive addition to our Grand Lodge.
In the last issue of the Trowel there was an article about the Flying Masons on the Cape. One of the men involved is Robert Burnham, a member of Parker-Concord Royal Arch Chapter of Natick. I would suggest that the article is well worth reading.
