M\E\ Charles A. O’Wril, Jr., Grand High Priest
Date: January 2005
Dear Companion:
The Secret to Happiness
The secret to happiness and well-being is no mystery. All it takes is the ability to do the following: forget, apologize, admit errors, avoid mistakes, listen to advice, keep your temper, shoulder the blame, make the best of things, maintain high standards, think first and act accordingly, put the needs of others before your own, and forgive.
Seem like a tall order? Then try slipping as many of these “secrets to happiness” into your day as possible. You will soon be rewarded with a more positive outlook on life.
The Grand Royal Arch Chapter, as well as myself, congratulate M.W. Jeffrey B. Hodgdon, who was installed as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Massachusetts at the Feast of St. John, December 27, 2004. We pledge our full support of him during his term.
At our Annual Grand Chapter Meeting on December 7, 2004, you again honored me by electing me as Grand High Priest for a third term of office. I thank all of you for the trust you have put in me for this high position, and promise that it has not been misplaced.
My theme for the year is “What can I, as an individual Companion, do for my Chapter and Grand Chapter”. I have to thank Companion Everett Carr for the inspiration for this theme. When I thanked him for his service to our Grand Chapter for producing the Charity Ad Book for the last 4 years, he stated that he was not in a position to serve as an officer for his Chapter. He further stated that he considered what he could, with his knowledge of the computer, do for the success of our Charity spring and fall programs. He said that all individuals should ponder on what talent they have to offer to their Chapters, especially if they cannot attend each meeting or are house bound. Any High Priest or Grand High Priest depends on others to bring a program to fruition. Each Companion should evaluate a need in his Chapter and volunteer to fill that void.
On January 5, 2005 I had the personal honor of presenting the Benjamin Hurd Medal to R\E\Frank P. Mitrano. He has been a hard worker in the vineyards of Masonry, and especially Capitular Masonry. Frank exemplifies all that it means to be a Mason, Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. The sidelines were full that evening in his honor. I thank Waverly Royal Arch Chapter for the effort the Chapter extended to make the event a success! His family was in attendance ( wife Barbara and sons, Guy and Marcus). Many of the Grand Royal Arch Degree team were also present that evening. A special presentation of a Past Deputy Grand High Priest’s Jewel, once worn by Most Excellent Raymond T. Sewall and Most Excellent Bob Rudy Homberg, was made by Companion Homberg. Both M\E\Sewall and M\E\Homberg were long time members of the Team, Past Grand Lecturers, Past Grand Secretaries, and Past Deputy Grand High Priests.
