Dear Companion:
Risks
To laugh is to risk – Appearing foolish.
To weep is to risk - Appearing sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk – Involvement.
To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk – Ridicule.
To love is to risk – Not being loved in return.
To try is to risk – Failure.
But risk must be taken, because the greatest danger in life is to risk – Nothing.
The person who risks nothing – Does nothing, gains nothing and is nothing.
He may avoid pain, hurt, and sorrow
But he also avoids learning, feeling, changing, growing, loving…living.
The barriers he erects to protect become the walls of his prison.
Only one who risks is free!

My theme for the year is “What can I, as an individual Companion, do for my Chapter and the Grand Chapter”. I hope that each individual Companion has given some thought of how they can improve the status of their Chapters or Grand Chapter.
There are several fields to improve. You can contribute to attendance by simply being at your Chapter’s convocation every Month or at least as many as you possibly attend. Organize a car pool among your Companions to attend each meeting. Make it possible for your aged or handicapped members to attend. Organize a call list to remind each member to attend. Would you believe that I still hear Companions say that they cannot remember what day of the month their Chapter meets? Organize a call list to urge attendance at meetings that celebrate a highlight in a Companion’s life. Call the sick and shut-ins who can not attend monthly convocations. These are just a few of the ways to improve the attendance and companionship in your Chapter.
One day classes are planned for May:
May 14, 2005 The Grand Royal Arch Chapter Degree Team will confer all of the Capitular Degrees.

M\E\ Charles A. O’Wril, Jr.
