Dear Companion:

It is true! To enjoy success in life you must DRINK, STEAL, SWEAR, and LIE!

Drink             from the fountain of friendship and happiness. Dwell on the positive things. Ninety percent of our worries never happen anyway. Smile and offer the hand of friendship. You can make more friends by listening to others than you can by years of extolling your own virtues.

Steal               some time from your day to do something for someone else, with no thought of receiving any fee or reward. Say those words of appreciation or sympathy and perform some acts of kindness for someone less fortunate than yourself.

Swear             to find a way to do your job better. Whether it is your vocation, part time, or volunteer work, do it to the best of your ability. Not even God would ask more.

Lie                  down at night and thank God for all the gifts of life that he has bestowed upon you. Thank GOD for living in a free country where you worship God as you please.

Do these things, and you will enjoy a success in life never thought possible … and you will exemplify the principles of Freemasonry!

Our One Day Class was very successful having thirty seven candidates. I thank our Grand Chapter Degree Team and the Grand Lecturers, R\E\Bruce H. Stanford, R\E\Frank P. Mitrano, and R\E\Peter A. Hamm, for the exceptional work performed while conferring our Capitular Degrees! I thank R\E\Michael A. Brown, and R\E\Peter J. Andrews for being the Co-Chairman for both our one day classes. A big thank you to our Grand Secretary R\E\ Paul W. Rolston for his organizing the dinner reservations, registration of the Candidates, and all the hours of work put in before and at the one day class. Finally I thank R\E\Jeffrey L. Gardiner for being the Acting Grand High Priest while I was at the Annual Meeting of the Grand Chapter of Rhode Island.

Our Spring Charity Event held Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Indian Ranch was also very successful by the efforts of R\E\Raymond Ciani and R\E\Richard McDonald as well as Jodie and Helen. I thank Comp. Everett Carr for Publishing the Charity Ad Book. It was noted that R\E\Jack Smethurst and his wife were in attendance and they are doing fine in their recuperation from their severe traffic accident in Maine.

Congratulations to M\I\Grand Master Donald W. Carriger, Jr., R\I\Wayne L. Robbins, Deputy Grand Master and R\I\Michael A. Brown, Grand Principal Conductor of the Work who have been installed to these high positions on March 27, 2004. I know Grand Council will be in good hands during M\I\Carriger’s term, as he is a good man, a great worker, and a good Mason.

I have appointed R\E\Richard B. Burgess the coordinator of our Grand Representatives. I know that he will perform his usual excellent job when coordinating our Grand Representatives. Please send any copies of your communications that you receive between your Jurisdictions to his attention at the Grand Chapter Office.

I sincerely thank all the companions who have sent their prayers and concerns for the health of our son, Charles A. O’Wril, III. He recently received a serious injury to his left arm in an industrial accident. He was in the Leahy Clinic, Burlington, MA, and came home on Sunday April 25th. He still faces many surgeries and a long recuperation. His home address is at 56 Baltimore Avenue, Lowell, Ma 01851. I know he would appreciate cards.
