Dear Companion:

The Real Mason

My Brother, Masonry means more than just to wear a pin,

or carry a dues card so the Lodge will let you in.

You wear an emblem on your coat, and on your finger a ring,

but, if you’re not sincere at heart, this doesn’t mean a thing.

It’s just an outward sign to show the world that you belong

to this Fraternal Brotherhood that teaches right from wrong.

What really counts lies buried deep within the human breast;

Masonic teachings bring it out and put it to the test.

If you can do outside the Lodge the things you learn within,

be just and upright to yourself and to your fellow men.

Console a brother when he’s sick or help him when in need

without a thought of a reward for any act or deed;

conduct yourself in such a way the world can see;

none but the best can meet the test laid down by Masonry;

Respect and live up to your trust and do the best you can;

then you can tell the world you are a Mason and a man.

We take up the working tools of the craft again with renewed enthusiasm and dedication. I am looking forward to a great Capitular year for the Grand Chapter as well as the constituent Royal Arch Chapters for our Jurisdiction.

We have lost another pillar of Masonry. Rt. Ex. Sydney Francis Towle, Senior Past Grand Scribe, passed away on August 27th in Claremont, NH

September 1 - Your Grand High Priest presided over the merger of Adoniram - Fairhaven and Wareham Chapters, now known as Adoniram Chapter. Adoniram Chapter is the fourth oldest chartered Chapter in Massachusetts. Although it is considered by many as a sad day when a Chapter merges, I reminded those present that it was a new beginning for the Chapter. Adoniram Chapter had a full line to install, and R\E\James H. Douglass, R\E\Lynwood P. Harriman, and E\Charles E. Rouleau, Jr., performed the installation ceremony flawlessly.

September 16 – Your Grand High Priest will be making a Fraternal Visit to Amherst Royal Arch Chapter. He will be received at 8:00 P.M.

September 25 - Your Grand High Priest will be attending Mayflower York Rite College.

Oct 1,2 - Your Grand High Priest will be attending the Annual Meeting of the Grand Chapter of New Brunswick.

Oct 13 - Your Grand High Priest will be making a Fraternal Visit to St. Stephens Royal Arch Chapter. He will be received at 8:00 P.M.

Until next month I remain,

Yours fraternally,

M\E\ Charles A. O’Wril, Jr.
