Concurrence of Grand Chapter Day with Grand Lodge’s “One Day Class”

 

As you are likely aware, our Grand Lodge will hold a “one day class” on Saturday, November 1, 2003, enabling participants to become Master Masons in one day. Since our Grand Chapter Degree Team has begun actually conferring the Chapter degrees on Grand Chapter Day, instead of simply exemplifying them on that occasion, Grand Chapter Day this year will offer a very convenient opportunity for members of the Grand Lodge one-day class to also become Royal Arch Masons in one day. Grand Chapter Day this year is Tuesday, December 9, 2003.

For a candidate to be eligible to take the Chapter Degrees on Grand Chapter Day, that candidate’s application must have received a unanimously favorable vote at a regular or special meeting of a constituent chapter prior to Grand Chapter Day. (Any vote conducted prior to November 1, 2003 on the application of a member of the one-day class must have been made contingent upon that member’s actually becoming a Master Mason as part of the one-day class.)

The concurrence of Grand Chapter Day with Grand Lodge’s “One Day Class” provides us with a terrific opportunity to extend Masonic light while we augment the rolls of Chapter Masonry in Massachusetts. Let’s work together with our Blue Lodges to make the most of this very fortunate opportunity.

This is the beginning of our new Capitular year. I do hope that each Chapter has laid out their plans for the year, and all are obtaining new candidates. Please try to obtain candidates for your Blue Lodge, and at the same time give them an application for the York Rite. I am more than happy to visit any Chapter that wishes to invite me during the year. Invitations should be processed through the Grand Chapter Office.

Tuesday evening August 19, 2003 - I officiated at the merger of Morning Star and Evening Star Royal Arch Chapters. The existing Chapter will be Morning Star Chapter of Springfield.

September 16 - I will be at the Semi Public installation of St. Paul’s Royal Arch Chapter. I will be received at 7:00 P.M.
