Dear Companion:

ATTITUDE

The Longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we will have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 % what happened to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our ATTITUDES!

Our Annual Grand Royal Arch Chapter Convocation will be held on Tuesday, Dec 13, 2005 in the Grand Lodge Building, Boston, MA. Details will be forthcoming from the Grand Secretary. Our Grand Chapter Degree Team will confer all the Capitular Degrees on elected candidates. I will authorize Special Business Meetings to allow the voting on new candidates prior to December 9, 2005.

Time of decision is upon us! We as Capitular Masons must decide whether our individual Chapters are worth the effort. There are Chapters in our Jurisdiction that do not have new Officers or new candidates. Most Chapters have sufficient membership, but members would rather stay at home and not support their Chapters! It might be the age of the membership, but I think it might just be the attitude. Most companions believe it is only up to the Officers to obtain new officers, new ideas, new candidates, and new programs. In the last few issues I have tried to impress upon the membership that an individual companion can and must make a difference in his Chapter. York Rite has an impressive history, and individual Royal Arch Chapters have a strong and proud history. It is up to us to pass this great heritage on! Affirm that you will support your Blue Lodges and your York Rite Bodies. You can make the DIFFERENCE!

Have you seen the new Universal Application which a candidate may use to apply for membership in a Blue Lodge? After being raised as a Master Mason it will be routed to the various Masonic Bodies that he may wish to belong to. M.W. Jeffrey B. Hodgdon also has set up a committee to facilitate easy routing to the various Bodies. This application is available in the summer issue of the Trowel.
