M\E\ Charles A. O’Wril, Jr., Grand High Priest Date: November 2003
Dear Companion:
I have just returned from the Tri – State Festival held in Laughlin, Nevada. The three States that usually attend are Nevada, Arizona, and California. This year the State of Utah also sent Candidates to the two day class of Royal Arch, Council, and Commandery. Laughlin, Nevada is located in the Southern tip of Nevada not far from California and Arizona.
The Massachusetts Grand Royal Arch Degree team conferred all the Capitular Degrees on the 45 candidates (which included Vincent P. Reed III from St. Paul’s Chapter in Boston). I have never been prouder of being from Massachusetts! Our Degree Team was impeccable in their floor work and ritual, and received a standing ovation from the 300 Companions in attendance. Many of the Companions expressed to the team members as well as to me, that they had never witnessed such wonderful Degree work. Our Grand Royal Arch Degree team has now conferred Degrees for States from the West to the East Coast, and in Canada and Mexico.
I want to thank St Paul’s Royal Arch Chapter, who sponsored the trip to Laughlin for the team and the Grand High Priest. I also want to thank R\E\A Theodore Fuller District Deputy Grand High Priest of the First District and Ex. High Priest of St Paul’s Chapter, and Vincent P. Reed Jr. the organizers of the trip.
The Degree Team has started their rehearsals for our annual meeting in December. The rehearsal dates are Nov. 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2003 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. in the Masonic Apartments in Norwood, MA. The final rehearsal is December 6, 2003 from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the Masonic apartments of Grand Lodge in Boston. I urge all officers and members of Chapters to try to attend these rehearsals; for much is to be gained from watching the Degree team confer our Capitular Degrees.
I want to congratulate Rt. Em. Sir William E. Eltzroth who was installed Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Massachusetts and Rhode Island at their Annual Convocation. He is a good Mason, a leader, and a friend. I know that Grand Commandery will be in good hands. I also want to congratulate Rt. Em. Sir Duncan C. Watson, who has graduated to the ranks of the Purple Cords. Over the past year we have become friends and his Lady Filomena and my Lady Dorothy have had many good times in our travels.
